Thirsty For Knowledge Thursday – Did you know….

Back in the 1820’s woman would disguise themselves as a prop when getting pictures taken of their children to get their children to remain still.  The camera shutter needed to remain open longer back then to capture the picture and even the slightest wiggle would make the picture be out of focus.

The flu vaccine had previously produced by growing the influenza virus inside a chicken egg – thus the reason people with egg allergies could not get the shot but as of the 2014 flu season, unless you are allergic to moths, you will be able to get the flu vaccine shot.  They are now producing the flu vaccine in fall armyworm moth cells.  And even better yet, because of this new breakthrough they are able to produce more of the vaccine faster than before!

A bite from the lone star tick can make you allergic to red meat.  FYI:  this tick resides in the Southeast and on the East Coast so if you love yourself some red meat, be very cautious when hiking in those regions.
